Which would you choose and why? Issued CompM4 or pay for a T-1 Micro?  Is it worth it?

The T1 is much smaller and lighter, and is less obtrusive, but it also has a bigger dot.

The Aimpoint M4 is an awesome sight, and weighs about as much as an EOTech or an M2/M3 with mount.

If weight is a big concern, then get the Micro, but I dont think it would be worth an extra 600-ish bucks just for less weight.

Use the issued aimpoint

m series is very robust, and has better moa

also has better night vision settings than T1

T1 offers no advantage over m4 other than weight, and only you can be the judge of those 8oz being worth it

Use the cash on something else, like a better stock, magnifier or light

ounces=pounds in the field. I have really come to like the t1 but the m4 is IMO is a slighlty better built optic. As others have said only you can decide if the weight savings is worth it. As to dot size the t1 is more like  3moa instead of the 4moa listed. I have a tough time distinguishing between dot size of the t1 and the m4.

Ok so I'll stick with the CompM4, now here is another question?  Issued CompM4 or issued RCO ACOG?

T-1.  I've switched all my M3's and M4 for them.

You can look through and use the T-1 (center on target) as a "ghost ring" in the unlikely event of failure for short range work (inside 50m for me).  Works even better for me with the T-1's over the M4/3's since the "ring/aperture" is smaller.

Acogs are great, they are the sickest thing however they are so damm overpriced I have yet to get one .........   I have used them though

As someone else in the optics section stated the acog does everything very well, however it is not the best for any one specific task!!!!!

I don't image you are carrying an issued weapon that is capable to get the full advantages that the acog offers.......  ie distant shots
Although if you have a small cal. it would be great for head shots

The terrain you are in will dictate which one is best, and which is the most likely encounter in which you may need such weapon....
If you are supported by scoped, and crew served weapons again stick with the aimpoint

It shines past 100M over aimpoints, but the aimpoint stomps on the acog within 25m

Well I have a brand new M4 with 60 rounds through it, so the barrel is still in tip top shape, since some random moron hasn't cleaned it.  I have the ACOG RCO with the Larue RCO mount, so it's the best it can be right now.  My only concern is for close quarters,  I have a choice between a brand new CompM4 and the current new RCO ACOG.  Those are both free/issued, hence why I'm debating on those or the T-1.  Please advise.

If you have an acog with those mounts

Then definitely get the aimpoint

You can swich out acording to your task, good mounts dont lose poi should you need to through on your acog if you are going to travel over open terrain where the acog will be supreme over the aimpoint

Have you seen what I really want to have

Where people have the acog as the primary optic, and the micro on an offset mount....
That truely is the sickest thing!!!!

Well unfortunately it's one or the other, I can't have both.  I have the mounts for both, but can't decide on a permanent one.  I may be able to sleep with the armorer and have both signed out to me though.  Good idea!  I have thought about the micro/acog combo, but really debating the justification of money.  But you know how BRD is, eventually I'm bound to GET BOTH.

I prefer the Aimpoint, but it really comes down to personal preference influenced by METT.  Unless you are a DMR (doesn't sound like it) or in another role where the long range target ID advantages of the ACOG outweigh the utility of the Aimpoint, then the Aimpoint would be my choice.  Binos always worked for me at IDing targets at longer range.  ACOGs and other scopes help you see, not hit, your target.

Either way you are compromising, you just have to decide which compromise will work for you in a given enviroment.

Urban/CQB = Aimpoint
Mountains/Open Desert = ACOG
