Have had a S&W M&P flattop for about a year now and am wanting to find a scope.  There's so many options that I'm lost.  Please help!

I'd like a CQC style with the capability of mid range shooting.  I really like the idea of the Millet DMS, but by the price I'm worried its a little cheap.  Plus my short time patrolling this website leads me to believe it's fairly heavy.  The Leupold Mark 4 CQ/T scope lookes like a similar piece but with high quality, however it's more than I can spend.

What about the red dots with the separate comps?  How well do they work?

I've been a gun guy all my life, but the AR world is totally new to me.  Your help is greatly appreciated.

I was in the same situation as you were; I wanted quality at an affordable price.  I didnt like the Millett because it is a foot long, weighs over a pound.  I couldnt afford the Trijicons and tactical Leupolds.

Then I saw the Bushnell elite 4200 on Amazon here.  I placed my order as soon as I saw it.  That price is a good $150 less than what others are selling it for.  It is supposed to have excellent glass and construction as well.  It's 1.5 inches shorter than the Millett and a few ounces lighter.

I personally think it is the best deal going on a quality, low power magnified optic.  When the Weaver from Natchez was $250, that was probably a better deal but now that the Weaver is $290, I think the Bushnell edges it out for $26 more.

My Elite gets here next week.  If you havent decided by then, I will try to remember to let you know my thoughts on it.

A good optic for $300.

Also look at the Weaver Classic tactical series.

And if you can spent the money, Accupoint or Burris XTR   FTW

Thanks for the input.  I'm not in a big hurry so I'll think I'll wait to see how you like your Bushnell when you get it.

Not exactly for sure where your located in KS, but if you decide to do ANYTHING with Bushnell, go to the outlet store in Shawnee/Lenexa area. Actually, someone in the MO hometown forum works there and can get you an even better deal.

Received the Bushnell today.  Not mounted yet but initial impression is its very nice glass for the money.

The glass is extremely bright and clear.  I would put it a notch above my Nikon Monarch 6.5-20.  In dusk, the scope actually makes the image brighter than my naked eye shows.

It is built very nicely and is somewhat heavy.  Today was cloudy but the illuminated dot was bright and easy to pick up on the "1" setting.  With 9 additional brightness settings, I could easily see the dot being daytime visible.

The German #4 reticle seems to allow for quick acquisition.  The 1.25x allows for two eyes open comfortably (for me) past about 15 yards or so.  There was no information included on how to "use" the reticle.  Perhaps there is no range estimation with the #4 reticle?

One thing I was disappointed with were the turrets.  It has hunter style turrets.  While this isnt necessarily a bad thing, my Monarch has spoiled me with target turrets.  On a scope like this, however, I will probably zero it and not mess with the turrets much from there (99% of my shots will be within 200 yards and mostly within 100).  That said, the turret adjustments are extremely crisp with a nice audible click.

Obviously I have not mounted it to check zero or do the box test.  It will probably be a few weeks before that happens but initial impressions are extremely positive.
