What is a good way to mount an Aimpoint cheap?  I don't need a quick release lever and I have to outfit about 6-8 ARs so I would like to shave some of the cost here.  I was thinking 30mm Rings (Burris) in the High range but I wanted some input before I did this.  What Height would give me a lower 1/3 co- witness?

Seriously, suck it up, spend the money once, and get a LaRue mount.

I have the LaRue Canti-lever on my personal gun.  These are work guns and the budget only allows so much ching for weapons.

I would try Warne QD 30mm AR rings. Listed as extra high. Have seen them from about $60 to $80 plus a pair.  Good solid steel rings.

Thanks for the input....have you tried this?   Does it co-witness correctly?

So by work guns, I'm assuming you mean guns that may save people's lives.  Seems to be that the best product available should be utilized.  Who makes this budget?

Cheap mounts don't do lower 1/3 cowitness, and Good mounts don't come cheap.

The best I could offer would be to use the Aimpoint OEM mounts ($40-70ea "preowned" but never mounted), and a some decent risers.
But, you'd probably end up being over $100 spent for each set up anyway. Might not work perfectly, but it's also not junk.

Best case, pony up for the LaRue. It's worth it. I bought the Catilever LaRue mount.  It's perfect.

Committee makes the budget.....and they don't give a sh!t about lives.  I'll most likely go with one of the more reputable mounts but i was seeing if i could get around the high dollar.

Understandable.  Sad, but understandable.  The stock Aimpoint mount would work, but it's close enough in price to the LaRue that it's almost worth just going Larue.  What exactly is the role these rifles are serving?  Police work?  Private security?

Have you contacted LaRue and told him the situation. Sometimes, manufacturers dicount to municipalities etc. for purchases in excess of 1. Worth asking.

No, I have not tried them. I ended up ordering a Aimpoint combo from LaRue.  Here is the Warne page. The have a specific Aimpoint mount.  http://www.warnetactical.com/maximamagnum.html  Hope this helps. I use a lot of their 1 inch rings.  Might have been off in price.  Did a search and this description looks like it matches the ring on the Warne page.  http://www.swfa.com/showcategory.aspx?categoryid=1783&resetfilter=true

My friend had some Burris rings on his rifle, they seemed to be pretty decent. 6 screws so they held nice and tight.

What I would do, is get your paws on an a ring you know will be lower 3rd co-witness, and then measure how tall it is, from the BOTTOM of the scope ring, to where the top of the picatinny rail is.

With lower 3rd co-witness, QR is not a necessity.

My personal (but this is JUST A GUESS) is you would need the 1" mount.
