I have a Bausch and Lomb Elite 4000 6-24x40. It was sold as a water proof, lifetime warranty scope- I bought it new. I still have every piece of paperwork except for the warranty card(submitted when new) and the original receipt(the business is now closed).

Here's what happened:

Out of the blue, two-three weeks ago I went out to shoot and I saw that the objective lens had fogged up from the inside with plenty of obvious condensation of water beads. Also, it appeared either oil/grease had seeped inside the scope.

The scope has always been kept in a secure, clean, climate controlled case, and it has never exhibited anything like this before. The scope has also not been subjected to anything that would cause this. I have a 5-15x50 and a 6-24x40 that are both one year newer than this scope, and neither of them have anything like this wrong with them.

At one time I spilled some cleaning solvent on the paint of the scope and splotch of paint is missing, but otherwise nothing has happened to this scope.

I sent pictures and a description to Bushnell Repair, which handles all the B&L repairs and even though the scope is a lifetime warranty scope, they say they won't warranty because: 1. no receipt even though I have everything else 2. looks like abuse because a spot of paint is missing 3. it's old and fogging is wear and tear.

Does anyone know where I could get this scope repaired, other than Bushnell ?

Suggestions would be appreciated !

I have known guys that have good luck with Parson's on older scopes. Not sure how old your B&L's are...

Check with Bushnell, as they bought out B&L some years ago.
