Would it be correct in thinking that a detachable handle with A2 sights, protected while off the rifle, would retain zero when replaced?

I plan on putting a Holosight with FTS magnifier on my flattop.  Don't have room for a flip up sight (no rails on handguard, and no riser).  If I wanted to have the handle readily available in the off chance this setup fails while out in the sticks, would I be able to remove the holo and mag., and put the handle back on and still have zero?

You'll be "combat close".  Windage may be off a bit if you don't put exactly the same amount of torque on the lugs everytime.

I never shoot for groups with my flattop AR's, but I can swap back and forth with my Larue mounted optics (Aimpoint and EoTech) and DCH and hit the 6" gongs at 100m with no problems.

Thanks for the reply.

This would be for a hunting situation where I have no choice.  Inside 6" keeps me inside the kill zone.  I'll just have to practice shooting after putting it back on to see how much it affects windage so I know if it would still be worth taking a shot or not.  If nothing else, it will keep it a defensive weapon at that point.
