I'm looking for a beater set of sights for a 9mm AR I'm building.  I'll probably go with a decent optic at some point in time, but I saw these knockoff MBUS on ebay and thought that they my be fun to try out.

Anybody have any experience?

PS Please, no "those are cheap crap.......I would never put toy sheot on my rifle......." etc., I know what they are, I want some first hand experience.

Well, since "you" already said most people wouldn't put those cheap knock-off sights on their rifle, I doubt you will find anyone with any experience using them to even give you first hand impressions

In looking at the photo, it does not appear as if the front sight pin is adjustable for elevation.  Or at least it is not adjustable in the way a standard AR front pin would be.

These are airsoft clone copies made in china (there's already a Gen1 MASADA being subcontract produced for A&K, but MagPul monkey-stomped that two-bit operation).

I'd just wait, and get the MagPul ones - at $115/set and shipping, Something that won't twig-snap the retention screw, break low quality springs, or warp will be worth the trouble.

For what it's worth, I'm getting three sets of MBUS, including for my airsoft guns.

I could understand if the real ones were 2-300... but for ~120... I mean come on, a knock off..... really?

$31.00 to your door for a set ... go ahead and try em, but I would expect 'airsoft' quality because that's what it is. If it were anything more then it would be priced significantly higher.

I’m sure the front sight is adjustable by simply turning a knob similar to the rear sight. My fear is that these sights would pop up if they were bumped, but maybe I’m just skeptical.

If you get em, write a review here in this thread.

Here's a page that shows the MBUS in great detail

Is it just me or do they appear quite bulky.

I don't like the view through the rear sight. It looks like the aperture WILL NOT sit flat ... looks tilted backwards too much. That could get annoying:

Well, "I" didn't quite say that.....

Anywho....

They are roughly 1/3 the price of the real MBUS -  a pretty significant savings......

I don't feel like being the guniea pig right now, so I'll just keep poking around until I find something I really want.

I didn't notice that, good eye!

I think I'll wait for someone else to reveiw them....I'm in no hurry - I'm not even close to completing the build....
