Hi everyone, heres my dilemma: I have a 511 that I want to upgrade to a 516, I'm selling it on here and a couple interest wanted to know if its a real one. Of course it is, but is there any tell tale signs that it is. Thanks

Do you have the box and original receipt? If not could you provide the shop you bought it from?

The best way to visually check it is to turn the sight on to a medium setting. Than squint hard and try to focus on the reticle ITSELF (yes that's the exact opposite thing of what your supposed to do when you use an Eotech) and see what happens to it. A fake Eotech will have a clearly defined and solid reticle because it would be nothing more than an LED based red dot. A real Eotech reticle will look fuzzy and seems like a million little dots forming the larger reticule.

Here's a FAKE eotech with the obviously fake reticle, but ignore the shape. Notice how clearly defined the reticle look? That's because it's just a simple LED powered reticle:

Real Eotech, notice how fuzzy the reticle look:

Ahh good. I didn't know if the reticle looked the same or not, thanks.
