Just swapped out an A1 upper for a flat top and want to know a little about the way my eotech mounts.

The way I have my case set up, the gun and the sight will not fit when they are together. Buying new foam is $50ish, if I am going to spend that much I may as well get a QD mount instead of new foam.

The real question is this.

If I sighted in the eotech and made a witness mark on the knob/screw could I take it off and expect to return to zero? I don't NEED to take the scope off in a hurry but the quick detach mounts are the only way to go if the factory mount is not repeatable.

Eotech specs their mounts at 1 MOA or 0.5 MOA, depending on the model and year made.  That's generally good enough for a CQB sight.

Not many vendors actually spec their RTZ.
