I recently ordered a Millet DMS for my preordered AR Performance Xtreme 6.8 upper.  The scope is currently mounted on my Marlin 3030 for a little “getting to know you” range time.  I must say that, for the money, I really like this scope.

I would also like to purchase a couple of magnifiers, one each for my Aimpoint M3 and M4.  I do have a couple of questions though:

I see that Burris has a new 3X.  Have there been any reviews yet?

The highest price I can find for the Burris is $199, which makes this magnifier quite a bit cheaper than the other main players.  What makes the Aimpoint and EOtech magnifiers so expensive?  There is almost no technology involved in making a simple magnifier, so how do these companies justify this price?

I understand supply and demand, but the prices seem a little out of line.  These companies are charging $199 to $450+ for a monocular.

Take a look at the Po' Boy Special from LaRue Tactical.  This is 2.5X magnifier made by Hesoldt (German made by Zeis' military sales division) mounted on LaRue's standard magnifier pivot mount.  The combo runs $199 plus shipping.  That's $400 or so less than an Aimpoint 3X magnifier and LaRue pivot mount.

I recent ran a side by side comparison of the Aimpoint and the Hensoldt and couldn't really tell a functional difference between the two.
