Anyone have hands on experience with the CompC3?  It looks to be the same as the M-class Aimpoints with less waterproof rating and of course no NV capabilities.

I am so far just a target shooter and am guessing this will be  a solid optic for the money to mount on my RRA.   Could a guy buy the rubber cover and lens caps like those that are on the CompM3 and put them on the C3 for a little more protection?

It would suit you well, and yes you can add the cover and caps. Read the tacked thread towards the top of the page concerning aimpoints, lot of great info there.

There really isn't that much difference in price betweens the C3 and ML3.  I would purchase the latter with a 2MOA Dot.  By the time you purchase all the acessories for the C3 you could own an ML-3.

That is true. Smartgunner has the C3 for $349 and the cover for $24. I didn't see the flip covers. They also have the ML3 with both for $396. But if the OP decides he doesn't need that stuff he can get the C3 from SWFA with a QRP mount for $388. Both sights are available in 2 or 4 moa.

Kind of what I was thinking - the SWFA package has the mount included for 388 which isn't a bad deal at all.  I really don't need the outer rubber cover or flip covers, but wanted to make sure I could add them in the future. The outer rubber cover might be a nice addition to protect from scratches, etc, but not a deal breaker.

My rifle a RRA and has the 'detachable carry handle' which has the built in rear iron and according to RRA guy I spoke to, is designed to be the right height to co-witness an Aimpoint.

I really don't need NV compatibility or 150ft waterproof rating.  So the CompC3 package deal at SWFA was fairly attractive.  I don't know about the quality of the mount that comes with it, but for my current use I think it'll work just fine.

Thanks for the input guys.
