I recently purchased a 10x42 Super Sniper for my AR15 HBAR based on great reviews on multiple websights.  I am very happy with all of its features except for one.  It seems to have very little margin for "eye alignment" with the ocular lense- meaning I have trouble maintaining a full unabscured sight picture due to the "edges" in my sight picture unless I am perfectly in-line with it (and it is not due to eye relief - that is fine).

I have several other scopes and this is not a problem with them.  Is this a common characteristic for this scope?

yeah mine is a little tough to get the perfect picture too. Its def not a run and shoot scope. Once you get used to it your muscle memory sets in and it gets easier. I use mine on a bench gun so I'm in no rush. I like it very much despite its shortcomings.

I have had budget scopes with the same issue. Like said above you can get used to it. I managed to tag a moving deer with a 4x16 scope that had the same problem. It compounded with magnification as well.
