I am 100% new to the AR scene, so please forgive the dumb questions. I just picked up a Stag Model 1 & am looking to put optics on it. I have no clue on what to go with. I was thinking an Eotech or a full scope. I plan on doing just some plinking but also it is nice to have around for protection. My budget is around $500 - $600 for this....is there anyone willing to give some good input? I am not heart set on an Eotech, they just seem to be popular.
Thanks so much!

What do you want?  Do you want magnification or do you want just a red dot?

I would really love both.
Thats why I am thinking an eotech and a magnifier. I know its going to be over $600 but I am leaning towards it.

If you really want and can afford both you could go this route:

Or buy a cheap version of both just to see which you like better before you pony up some real dough.

If you want both then I'd definitely look into LaRue.com

Slap on an Aimpoint, quickly take it off, and slap on a scope. You can always quickly switch back to the Aimpoint with no loss of zero.

Aimpoint Comp M3 with LaRue mount:

Go with whatever scope you like and a LaRue mount:

You can't beat the versatility.
