I'm trying to decide which flip-up front sight to buy for my Stag 2HT.

1.  Midwest Industries http://www.midwestindustriesinc.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=category.display&category_id=79

2.  Samson  http://www.samson-mfg.com/ar-15_html/product/QF-FFS-EXT.html

The MI sight folds FORWARD and lays flat on the gas block, from what I'm told.

The Samson sight folds back and lays on top of my Samson accessory rail.

Do you guys have any photos of these set ups?  Does anyone own either?  I'd like to see the difference so I can decide.  The MI is about $45 cheaper.

Thanks.

The best way to instantly see photos is:
Google Images

Just type in "MI sights" and you'll have 100s of examples instantly.

I checked Google images, oddly enough I can't find photos of these sights MOUNTED.  There are plenty of photos of them not mounted.

That Sampson is pretty slick looking.

The MI folds back....I just bought one and it is too long to fit on my gas block - it contacts my ff rail.  As per the MI website it folds back.

I have a similar topic going...have you considered any of these?

"One of these" could be a possibility.  How hard is it to swap out my existing Stag gas block (not A2 FSB)?

Dunno....I think we would find out together, I've never done it either!

I'm also in the same boat with you.

As much as possible, I would like to retain the regular plastic handguard of my carbine, as I don't use VFG.  I had this thread a week ago.  However, still inconclusive... and it does look a bit funny.

I'm now looking for reviews of this :

The above YHM would be a cheaper, but using a gas block gives me a option to mount the Troy Folding F/S.

My first consideration for a gas block is that it should be made of steel, rather than aluminum alloy.

I have the YHM on a dpms...they gasblock rail is low, so I had to modify my handrail for it to properly fold all the way back...just a heads up.

I think it is supposed to be low......I just don't think it is long enough!

I'm confused.  Are you guys saying I'll have to modify my hand guard if I get the YHM???  What do you mean the gasblock rail is low?

I was considering the MI gas block mounted flip up as well.  The last line from the above says the gas block model folds to the front.  I haven't tried one, but figured it would work without hitting a rail.  From the above pic, I figure you'd just have to turn it around to get it to flip forward.
