I'm new to the ACOG and i have a question that i couldn't find an answer for in search:

* When using a compact 1.5x ACOG and a "special ring mount", are the tall rings tall enough to co-witness with flip up BUIS? If so, is there enough eye relief to keep both items on the rifle?

The tall mount will clear the rear BUIS but you cannot co-witness with a magnified optic.

With my 1.5 x 24 mini acog I use the MMO7F special ring which is .9 inches high
and then mount that on a 1/2 inch tall mini riser for a total height of 1.4 inches.
It will clear most rear flip up sights when they are folded down,
just not the ones that have the full size A2 adjustment drum.

your right. I didn't think about that until after i posted.

All of the ACOGs Iv seen seem to be practically bullet proof. It seems like the only way for them to fail is if you got shot in the ACOG.

Do i even NEED back up sights with my ACOG? The rifle I'm trying to set up is just for rang use, and light duty as a ranch rifle.
