I recently puchased a spikes tactical Ar-15 w/ an eotech sight.  I have been to the range a couple of times shooting and I have had mixed results with the site.  My first time out I was just getting used to it, my second time I was there more intent on dialing it in which I did a decent job of.  But here is my question.  Should I be using the forward site along with the eotech or is the eotech used by itself?  I know it is a matter of preference and I find it to be more accurate using the forward sight and eotech in unison.  But I was wondering if the eotech should or can be used on it's own.  At 50 yds it works good with or without the forward sight but at 100 yds need to use the forward site to hit the target.

Thanks

This is correct.

You should be looking "past" the front sight, focusing both eyes on your target. The reticle of the EoTech will "float" over your intended target.
