I want to get a set of BUIS for my AR, I use a scope for my main sight.  I don't want to spend too much money on them, and I don't need military-quality sights.  Don't get me wrong, I want good, quality sights I just don't want to spend $250 for a set of BUIS.  For the front I would like one of the gas blocks with the built-in BUIS.  I like the PRI gas block, but it's a bit on the expensive side for me.  I was considering the Yankee Hill gas block, its not too expensive and it looks pretty nice, I especially like the hooded front sight post.  But I don't think the Yankee Hill rear sights will match, my scope extends back to where the charge handle is, and I think the Yankee Hill sight does not have a low enough profile to clear my scope.  I have a Nikon 3-9x40 and Warne Flat-top AR-15 rings.  Would it be ok to use the YHM gas block and then get a different rear sight?  Are they all on a standard height or should I stick with using the same brand for both sights?  Anyone know of some other companies that make the gas block/flip-up sight combos that aren't too expensive?

Thanks,
Matt

I'm like you.  I wanted good quality sights but didn't want to pay $250...

Trouble is, I was living in dreamland.  So I got the good quality sights and spent the $250.

The term "good quality" and "inexpensive" are not terms that are spoken in the same sentence.  Pick one, and then live with your choice.  Sorry - but that's the way life works.

Guys I just put an MI on the front and a matech rear for less than $200. I could not be happier.

i have a YHM flip up front sight mounted on my gas block and a matech at the rear. no problems! you can mix and match, a lot of it is personal preference, some people like the matechs some dont, some want to be able to adjust elevation at will, while some figure that if they need their buis then its a shtf moment under 200 yards. if you can, just find a place that sells a bunch and just take a look at them for a little while. find something that you like and feel comfortable with.
