Hi all,

I bought a bushnell sportsmen scope for my ar15 yesterday for like $60. Its okay for 50 yards but at 100 yards its way off. I'm wanting to get a good scope thats not too expensive that will reach out to 200 yards. I'm talking at 200 yards you can see were the bullet hit the paper target..

Are there any scopes that fits this description? Thanks

seeing a .223/5.56 @ 100yds isn't easy. I can't immagine being able to see a .223/5.56 @ 200yds with a 3-9x unless you're using shhot-n-c type targets. invest in a spotting.

Yes but what I mean is seeing the target in good detail. I want to buy a scope like this to do a little bit of competition shooting at the range. Atleast be able to see the target at 200 yards away and be able to make out the paper target.

Go to wally and get a Centerpoint for $70,4-16x,switchable red/green lit crosshairs and mounts and rings and caps included.Great look thru and repeatable settings and has taken a few coyotes out to 300 yards

Oh ok, well I use a Burris 3-9x40 (under $200 w/ free set of binoculars) and have hit targets out to 300yds (farthest my range goes) easily. I've even hit a bowling pin consistently @ 300yds which I thought was pretty good.

I'm thinking about switching to a 1-4x optic since it's rare when I do shoot that far but will still be able to pick up targets w/ 4x.

One thing I'll recommend is that you learn the trajectory of your rifle/ammo then zero your rifle and confirm the trajectory by shooting the different distances. I use the IBSZ (50yd zero = same POI @ approx 200yds)
