Which Aimpoint is the best the M3 or the Micro T-1 and if it os the M3 is the 2 MOA or 4 MOA more desireable & why?
TIA |

Just depends on what you are using it on I guess. The T-1 definately has the advantage of size and weight. I think the battery usage is the same between the two. I have a M3 in 2moa and a ML2 in 4moa and cant tell the diference in dot size. Technically you will have more mounting options with the M3. But since I use Larue mounts that is a moot point. I have a T-1 on order that is going on a SBR. You CAN'T go wrong with either. |

I really like the T1 but the ML3 are great also. I prefer the 4moa dot but we sale more 2moa.

The switch on the ML3 is the same switch in M3 and C3. The difference is the lens coatings. Aimpoint sights uses very high end European glass made by the same supplier for several very high European optics companies. The CompM3 has 50 additional lens coatings than the ML3 and C3. The lens coatings are "sandwiched" actually compressed between two very high quality pieces of glass so they can not "wear" off.
These additional lens coatings do two things; 1) first it helps reflect the red dot of the Light Emitting Diode at the lowest settings so that they are visible to Night Vision. You can use an ML3 or a C3 with NV, but you have to turn up the brightness settings on the ML3 and C3. It is when these sights are used at the higher settings with NV for prolonged periods of time, that the NV optic can be damaged. Essentially what happens is that red dot image burns in to the NV tube much like what used to happen to old computer screens. 2) second the additional lens coatings minimize the down range signature of the CompM3 at night. When the sight setting is turned down to an appropriate setting for use at night with out night vision, the MilStd requires that the sight not be seen any further than 3 meters down range. Hope this sheds more light on the main difference between the CompM3 and the ML3. S/F |

I had an ML3 4moa on my Benelli M4 that i sold, and am getting a T1 or H1 as soon as my Brugger & Thomet mount comes in, which should be next week The mount is a low profile mount (like the LaRue low-profile) with some neat shapes to it. I'll post up some pics and reviews when i get it. But between the 2 optics? The T1 is lighter, has less obstruction around it, and is just as durable and usable with NVG and/or magnifiers, as the fullsize aimpoints are. I wanted to get an H1 or T1 originally, but ended up getting the ML3, and now i sold the ML3 and am getting a T1 (probably) or H1 anyways. |

I use Micro T-1s on my VangComp'd 870s with great effect. The combat shotgun is very much under appreciated and the Micro makes them even more lethal. 00B 25 yards and closer, with slug for precise shots and engagements out to 150 yards (esp. when using an Aimpoint). 97% of combat is inside 100 meters. Anyway, the same information regarding lens coatings that I discussed previously between the CompM3 and ML3 applies to the Micro T-1 and the H-1. S/F |

Or you could get an M4, with 30,000 more hours, uses AA battery, and comes with a mount. When I ran the numbers it ended up being a wash if I would have bought an M3 or T-1 with a good mount.
Love my M4s, but also have a T-1 on the wife's Kel-Tec SU-16C rifle and it works well too. |
| They are both much better than any EOthingy IMHO, and you should not be disappointed with either. I have run a 2MOA M3 for a few years, and the third T-1 will be arriving come next Monday for my wife's build. The dot of the latter is definitely not twice the size of the former. |

Thanks for the cool info about the coatings BTW, interesting to know Im pretty sure i'll be getting the T1, although its 130 dollars more expencive up here (479 for the H1 and 629 for the T1) but I sold both my old DOcter Optics sight, and my AImpoint, which is enough for the new T1 mount and a T1. The Red dot on a shotgun does create arguably one of the best CQB weapons! |
