Picture for reference

The dial on the right side is for windage (left or right) adjustment.  This is usually a set it and forget it setting.

The dial on the bottom of for elevation adjustment and it is graduated for different ranges.  So when sighting in your rifle you adjust the elevation using the front post adjustment and then you can use the bottom dial on the rear for shooting at different distances.

What do the numbers correlate to? When should I use a 4 for example?

Thanks!

4 would be for shooting at a target that is 400 yards away from you. 5=500. You get the picture. Good luck with your new AR.

Ahhh!
That makes sense. I'm kind of embarrassed I didn't pick that up by looking at it.

Anyway, Thanks!
