Hi all,
I am thinking about getting an Eotech for my new build(flat top w/ yhm lightweight railed hand guard)

I like the 511.a65  - good price, size and weight. Is the N Type battery that bad? is it worth it to get the AA battery eotech( longer and heavier) this will be a range gun/ home defense.

I'd get the 512 only because the batteries are cheaper, more available, etc.  You can grab a couple of AA's anywhere in the house or wherever. What do you do when your N cell dies and you don't have another?

I have the 511 and thought - no big deal, I can always buy batteries anywhere.  Wrong - went to a bunch of places and of all things found it at RadioShack,  I think my 511 eats batteries faster.  Just got a 512.
