I just got an eotech 557 for my AR. I have a flip up BUIS front and back. Quick question that may be a dumb one. Keep in mind I have never used a HWS before.
Do you use the front sight with the HWS or red dots?

You don't need anything else, unless the optic dies.
You can flip up your sights and still use the red dot/HWS if you want, that is how I run my rifles.
