Want something with the look but not the price, to carry me over until I can afford the real thing. Want it to be reasonably rugged in case it gets wacked around a little. I fully understand "I get what I pay for"

So what would you experts suggest??
TIA!
Dave

ETA: Non chinese suggestions are acceptable! Also, This will go on a RRA M4gery, and would like to cowitness with irons Standard front sight and whatever I need for the rear to accomplish this.

If you need something to tide you over, use iron sights.

Supporting the counterfeit market is not only illegal but morally wrong.

People who buy that shit create demand which makes them readily available.  Because they are indeed counterfeits, police officers and soldiers often unknowingly buy them and it really does put people's lives at risk.

You are also supporting the Chinese market that only wants to make a quick buck regardless of the moral or safety ramifications.

So again, until you can buy the real deal, use irons or buy a cheap Burris.

I just use a Tasco Pro Point since i don't really have the funds yet to buy an aimpoint. It seems to work well, i haven't had any issues with the zero even after a couple thousand rounds.

how about the S.P.O.T. red dot, they are around 165 bucks come with a sturdy mount and are made in South Korea over China. so far these red dots have excellent reviews, i bought 2 and like them as much as my Aimpoint. Del-Ton sells them here, i'm not sure who else but look into this optic before taking the chi-com plunge, when they are on the EE they never last more than a weekend

I have bought and have seen many fakepoints, they are airsoft crap and often can't withstand recoil from a rifle.

Look at bushnel trophy - about $180 - fake acog that's pretty solid
busnhell holo - fake eotech - about $240 and pretty solid

Bushnell holosight is  great value for the money - only drawback is the poor battery life with the N cells.  They are made by L3.  They can be had for less than 240.

There is an AA battery version, and yes sometimes you can get them for $219 shipped on ebay, if you have a way to get better price please post it.
Another drawback is they're plastic, not metal and the eotech scopegoat doesn't fit, you need the bushnell scopegoat, the sight is a tad longer then the eotech.

But yes it is a good value for the $ if you do not plan to get the real eotech. If you will be buying the real thing, wait a week or 2, save the $ and get the real deal if that's what you want.

I'd suggest you buy a real one...

If you can't afford new, then pick up a used one from someone trustworthy so that you aren't buying a fake...

Buying a sh!tty fake is just a waste of money...

I tried a Fake Point. The reo stopped working correctly the second range trip out. That was on a .22

I heard the HALO from bushnell is actually built on the same pro. line as the Eotech it just lacks a few features bringing the cost down.  Is this true?

I bought an Aimpoint 9000SC when Midway was selling them. Real Aimpoint quality at 250 bucks.
Tough to beat, even though it is realtree camo.

From what I heard the early ones were. Remember the body of bushnell is plastic, and its a little longer. I have the hollo on a dedicated 22lr upper, and different bushnell scopes on fun range guns. Zombie/SHTF/going to carbine class have the real thing on them.

Check out the Vortex Strikefire. It is not a "aimpoint clone" but is similar in operation.
Vortex is American company and you get a rock solid warranty with a good company presence on ARFcom.
4MOA Red dot and green dot with 10 brightness levels and NV compatibility. 1000-2000 hr battery life.
Comes with choice of hi or low mount, flip covers,  and a 2X magnifier.
Great all around scope. For $135, you just can't beat it. I love mine.
See Vortex Optics in the industry forum.
