| dont know which one to go with. should i go variable power, or fixed? will shoot CQB a bit. looking at the accupoint 1.25-4 or the TA33 R8. thing that concerns me with the accupoint is the reticle is pretty small to acquire really fast, and it has no BDC. talk me into either one. also, who has the best price one trijicon products? |

If you are going to be doing more CQ shooting 25 yards and no more then 50 yards then the red dot will be better.. as for if you are going to be doing more shooting from 25 yards - 50 yards + and a avg of 50-300 or 400 yards then the ACOG will be best.. but you can still shoot long range with a red dot just as you can with iron sights.. but you really cant see what you are shooting at after about 100 yards.. as for the ACOG you can see what you are shooting at for mid range shooting and yet still be able to shoot in CQB using BAC.. you are going to be getting a much better groups past 50 yards with the ACOG but some say you will not be as fast as using irons or a red dot in CQB but that is more for people that dont have a natrual reaction and dont know how to point shoot very well.. if you are already a good point shooter and you learn to use BAC then you are set go with the ACOG.. I used to use a red dot and always wanted a ACOG but people that never even used a ACOG would tell me they are not as fast in CQB but I checked one out at a funshow was doing pricing online that night and orderd a ACOG within the week.. they do cost alot but you will not get a better all around optic then the ACOG.. But.. if you know you will pretty much just be shooting under 25 yards then go for the red dot.. but as for mid to long range with the ACOG you will not just be shooting at muzzel flashes you will be able to see your target.. IMHO the ACOG is a much better battel optic then the red dot.. and as for the accupoints with the BDC if you are just buying a ACOG for the BDC then you are buying it for the wrong reason.. I mean yes it is right on when using 62gr ammo out to 800 yards.. but the accupoint is a SCOPE the ACOG is not, making the ACOG much faster. you dont get any blackout and dont need to worry about parallax as much at all.. the ACOG will also take much more then the accupoint.. but I must say the accupoint is a good optic but really its just a lesser version of the ACOG and it has 1.5-4 power but it does have much less FOV... |

I am in the same dilemma right now. I have an ACOG TA01NSN that works just fine, even the fast action peep and blade work well enough to connect with man size targets out to 75 meters. I am debating adding a Trijicon or J-Point dot optic in place of the peep sights. I really would like one of the 1.25X4 Accupoint scopes but can't get warm and fuzzy to any of the offered reticles. |
The TA31F will have a MUCH better FOV and you get 4x power rather then 3x power.. the fact the FOV is so much better alone does it for me.. when i was comparing them I was kinda freaked out on how bad it was.. I mean if you have alot of targets setup at the range you will not see them with the TA33 as you will with the TA31F and in CQ like around 25 yards the FOV really really helps on the TA31F but even at 400 yards.. I mean if you have the extra money go for the 4x model.. I like the Chevron, lots of people do so I went with the TA31F but its up to you.. The TA33 is a good optic but it just does not offer as much as the TA31F does.. thats funny to cuz I also have a Armalite Middy and and in the middle of getting a LMT lower and wanted a LMT upper but they dont make middys so Im gonna go with a Saber upper.. and another TA31F of corse.. |
| You won't be able to see your other targets? Just open your eye! The BAC works very well on the TA33 and the TA33 is so "small" that you hardly see ANY of it at all when working with both eyes open, unlike some of the other ACOGs where you do see a lot of the optic's body. |
