It seems like I read on here once that if you're using a 4x optic or higher it's not an issue.

I wouldn't worry about it on a Carry handle anyhow

i have an aimpoint on it now and you can see the sight, but that's with no magnification.   i'll put the sight on and if it's a problem i can pull the sight off i imagine.

i've been asking a lot of questions because i am thinking of using my colt NM Hbar to do some long distance shooting from a benchrest and maybe some varmit hunting.  i really don't want to do to many modifications to the gun cause it's a really nice preban that i think is worth some money, but i'll put a new trigger in it and a scope mount and hope/see how well it shoots.

makes some sense though what you said about it not mattering about it if the scopes longer than 3 or 4x.    i'm putting on a 3-9 i have already, but if i like shooting the gun like this i'm gonna put something like a  6-24 or 9-36 so then it really won't matter

You're right on track. The long focal distance of a magnified optic makes the front sight pretty much disappear. I've done it with a fixed 4x on my flattop and it doesn't make any difference being there.
