I don't know anything on the BSA Sweet 223 though BSA scopes don't have a big following with most people.

I do know the principle on a BDC type yardage marked elevation turret. There are quite a few variables involved with say a turret marked 223, 55 gr. most are probably fine out to 250-300 yards depending on target size if they are capable of good repeatable tracking. After that bullet B.C., velocity, and how high the scope is mounted over the bore are just a few variables as most bullets in a 223 drop off pretty fast after 250-300 yards. A cheap Wolf 55 gr. load is going to drop a good deal more than a good handloaded 55 gr. V Max with better BC @3400 FPS at 400 yards.

You may be better served with a good 3-9X with a resetable well marked hand turn turret. A Nikon Buckmaster is a good example, maybe a Burris 2-7 Tactical. Just verify your load at various yardages and make a range card of your come ups and carry it or tape it to your stock.
