I realize that there are several variables that go into what height rings are needed for mounting a scope properly.  Is there a optimum height for the center line of the scope on a AR15 setup?  Is this measured from the top of the picatinny rail?

I have a flat top SPR type build, with a Magpul PRS stock, and I am looking to mount a Leupold Mark4 6.5-20x50 scope.

If I use the mounts (Les Baer) and riser (LaRue 5/8") that I planned on using it would put the centerline of the scope at about 1.75" above the Picatinny rail, does this seem too high.  With the PRS stock it seems to work just fine.

Here is my set-up with a Larue LT-104, I believe from center line of bore to center of scope is 1.5"

Typical goal is to have the centerline about the same height as the iron sights, which are 1.4" above the rail.  Many people go a bit higher, and there are a few mounts that go up as high as 1.75" or more.  That's too high for some people but just fine for others.  It does give more room to fit a BUIS under the scope if you want.

If it works for you, it's good!

The height I recommend is between 1.375 to 1.5in.
