[ARCHIVED THREAD] - Promag flip up sight problem.

I bought a promag 137 rear flip up and a 138 front flip up sight. I put them on my M&P 15 and they are way off. Not even on the target at 25 yards but into the dirt. Windage is good but elevation is way off. Tried the rear sight on the base and it shot low, put it on the riser and it shot high? Took the bolt out and sighted down the bore and the sights are off. Did I buy the wrong type of BUIS, or am I missing something?

I'm not sure what those Promag model numbers are, but there are flip up fronts for RAILS and ones for GAS BLOCKS. You might have the wrong model for your application.

My gas block has a picatinny rail on it. Do you think the front sight is made for something lower?

I looked and your sight is supposed to be mounted on a railed gas block, so it appears you've got that part right.

Have you tried adjusting the elevation on the front sight? Most all front sight assemblies allow this to be done.

I can raise the front sight pin but it will not go lower.

Hopefully someone else will chime in with a little more info that can help.

My only other idea is that it's ProMag, which is notorious for making some of the worst mags ever. A lot of the products on their site look like shitty copies of existing products, so I wouldn't be surprised that it's related to quality of the sight.

How far down should you be able to drop the front post?
