Hello all, I'm looking  for a Red Dot type of optic for my M4 style upper. Most of my shooting is between  50 and 200 yards. So I would like to know if an Eotech would be
best for this type of shooting.

Eotech or Aimpoint, it's kind of a Chevy/Ford thing. If I was buying one now I would get this little guy stores.homestead.com/Laruetactical/Detail.bok?no=149

But an eotech might be more affordable and some people certainly prefer them.

There is an optics forum here loaded with good reading.

I moved away from using red-dot optics, sold my EOTech and both Aimpoints.

But, if the need arises in the future for another red-dot type optic, my first choice will always be Aimpoint.

I have both, and I prefer Aimpoint

Eotechs (and Aimpoints) can certainly be used well at those distances althought they are outstanding for room to room & closer distances. However, if those are the primary distances you will be shooting, have you considered a Trijicon ACOG? I know, very pricey, but prolly the best small scope you can buy.

This usually comes up in all of these Eo vs. Aimpoint threads.  Try to get a look at both if possible and make a decision based on how you like each.  I'm an Eotech guy, but I've used and like aimpoints as well.

For work I fire at those ranges with an AR with an ACOG with 4x magnification, and to me it is far too much, at 50yds its hard to find center mass in a full silhouette because it just fills the scope.
