I am looking for optics for my 16"LMT Defender.

I am torn between an Aimpoint 2moa series optic an an ACOG.  The maximum range that this will be used at it 350 meters tops. I have use the Aimpoint in the service, but have no experience with the ACOG.

The Aimpoint does fail, I have seen it happen as bad contacts caused failure and such. Also these aimpoints have been run hard.  However, this optic I plan on using will be on a gun NOT going to war and I intend to use it for SHTF purposes.

What would you go with and why given the max range of 350 meters?

Can you engage targets with irons @ 350? If so,  then you can save money and get an aimpoint. If not, ACOG. Personally, I'd go with the ACOG because I can't see shit past 100 meters.

Basically an acog is bad choice for any sort of defensive purposes

Get a 1-4X variable or an Aimpoint plus magnifer.

If you want to be fairly accurate at 350 then get the acog, If you plan to do alot more up close and personal, get the aimpoint.  I just swapped from the eotech to a ACOG TA31f and I'm glad I did.  I can shoot up close and far away with great accuracy, plus the ACOG is tuff as nails as well. My .02
