| I have it and sold an EOTech because I kept seeing 2 blurred reticles through it. I'm using only irons now. Is there a red dot optic that may work for me? I seem to do okay with irons as I always have. |
| I also have astigmatism in my right eye, and it evidences itself with any of the illuminated reticle optics that I use....AP, ACOG, NF, Leupy [I have never owned an EO, and never will]. The solution for me was prescription glasses, and I simply love them. One should be wearing protective eyewear when shooting anyway, right? |
| I've tried the EOTech. I can't wear contacts anymore because my 40 year old eyes see double if not corrected by slightly prismatic glasses. Even with this, I still saw 2 EOTech reticles when I would shoot with both eyes open. With one eye it was just blurred. As I said, I do fine with irons, as I have my whole life. Maybe you just can't teach an old dog new tricks. |

I find that the astigmatism effect is worst with EO's. If you are looking for a 1x mag, maybe you can check out an AP or TriPower? If low power magnification is suitable for you, maybe an ACOG, Meopta, NF, AccuPoint, S&B, etc? They all seem to be better than EO's with regards to astigmatism, at least for me. Who knows, you might get lucky and find one that works OK with your eyes. |

My 2MOA Aimpoint looks like a football when viewed thru the corner of my glasses, like when shooting. I have 2 solutions I use: 1) I use my left eye. I have less stig in my left eye and the reticle is cleaner. 2) I use contact lenses for matches. My right eye contact lens is toric, to correct for the astigmatism.Contacts are always directly centered in front of your eye, unlike glasses which are optimized for looking thru the center of the lens. You could also get a pair of 'shooting' glasses made. They can put the center of the lens up in the corner, where your line of sight is when you shoot. BSW |
I have a HUGE amount of astigmatism in my right eye, so much so that the surgeon who I consulted with for LASIK asked if I would mind him showing the scan to others ![]() Aimpoints dot seem to be a bit check marked shaped, but fairly sharp. Short Dot's dot is a little mushy seeming. TR-21 is sharp as it the TA33. I would guess that my eyes can handle the straight lines of the chevrons better than the round of the dots. I can focus on the target just fine and all I am really looking for is the red on it to fire, so I have learned to live with it. If is a roughly 2-5 MOA blobby ,dot all is good. Now when the Eotech A.65 Reticle turned into a 65 MOA meatball, not so good. |
| My AP reticles all appear as a slightly elongated dash about 2.5 times the diameter of the dot without correction; with the prescription glasses, they are crisp dots. Fortunately, my astigmatism is not that bad, only +050 cylinder. What I used to do before getting glasses recently was pick one end of the "dash" as the POA, and zero accordingly. |

I have the same problem in both eyes and even with glasses I still can't use EOTechs. I had to sell mine. What does work is AimPoints with 2moa dots. The dot is pretty clear with a slight fuzzyness. What works 100% for me is my Trijicon TA31f ACOG and my Trijicon Reflex II with 2moa dot. Both Trijicons are very sharp and clear without any fuzzyness. MadDog |
Everyones eyes are a bit different, all of our optics shopping and selling is a very expensive version of the optometrist going "Is this one *click* or this one better?" |
| I have a small amount of astigmatism in my right eye, and I have found the compact ACOG to be the best optic for me. The distortion isn't bad enough to preclude using an Aimpoint with good accuracy, but enough so that I don't care for the EOTech. The compact ACOGs and TA33-8 completely solve the issue. |

I have mild astigmatism despite previous LASIK correction....I just got my Aimpoint T-1 with Larue mount and the dot looks round as long as I look thru the sight with both eyes open...if I use just my right eye, it looks a little blobbish... FWIW the T-1 looks more like a 2 moa dot than 4 moa... |

I have the same problem with or without corrective lenses. Both my Eotech and Aimpoint are distorted. My Eotech looks like two dots touching, and my 2moa Aimpoint is a dot with a flair on one side... almost like a comet. I tried the 4moa Aimpoint before I got the 2moa. The 4 was worse because the dot was bigger. That's the sole reason I got the 2. The distortion seems slightly less because of the smaller dot size I guess. If it had not been for that. I would have kept the 4moa. Not being able to see a defined dot is a little irritating. Especially when you pay for good optics. I may sell both of mine and buy an Acog. |

. I've heard, but never tried, that an Aimpoint doesn't appear blurry. Can anyone tell us either way?
