| I want to mount an EOTech or Aimpoint on my fixed carry handle Bushmaster. I plan on mounting it on my quad rail handguards in front of the handle. How much eye relief is too much? Do you think this will cause any problems? Which scope would be better for this setup? I have no desire to change my upper into an A3 style. Thanks. |
| Are your quad rails free-floating? If not, it will likely pose problems in zeroing your optic. Eye relief with either of these sights will be a non-issue, as they are parallax free. Either sight is good to go. You may have an easier time manipulating the controls on an Aimpoint with this setup vs. the EoTech |

The farther you mount an eotech forward the larger the reticle will appear in the veiwing lens. It is an optical illusion the dot is still 1MOA and the ring 65 MOA but the since it is farther out the retivcle appears larger. Aimpoints have a dot and they can be mounted forward as well, like a large ghost ring in some repects. Both sights have unlimited eye relief mounting them forward on a CAR leanth rail system will be no problem. I think the EO tech would be better mounted forward but I am an unabashed aimpoint hater. |
What exactly are "free floating" handgards? The ones I got fit in exactly the same way as the originals. |
Free floating a barrel involves installing handguards (usually made from aluminium) in place of your existing handguards. Clamps onto the barrel nut, and extends over the barrel, thus does not touch the barrel. It reduces barrel influence, thus, promoting accuracy. From the looks of it, you do not have FF handgaurds |
I ran a gooseneck ARMS 39 , QRP, Aimpoint on my A1 Bushy awesome set up I like my red dot out there |

I use the gooseneck/QRP with an Aimpoint M2 on my department issued (no mods) A1. While I prefer the optic on a flat-top I've learned to work with what I've got and like the Aimpoint out front more than relying on iron sights only for a working gun. I have no problems picking up the red dot and it has a lower 1/3 cowitness. The Bennie Cooley and Midwest Ind. goosenecks can be adjusted to give you either lower 1/3 or absolute cowitness. They are also more expensive at around $100+ retail. I have seen the Aimpoint goosenecks for as low as $25 and used QRP mounts for around $50 on the EE. I don't know if an Eotech would work on the Aimpoint gooseneck, but I think it should. I prefer Aimpoints to Eotechs. I think that they are more reliable and the longer battery life is a no brainer. People seem to get very worked up about this issue. Try them both, do some research, and decide for yourself which one works better for your application. |
