I want a one peice rig to mount my 3-9x40 nikon buckmasters to my AR.  Of course I would love to get a Larue and will someday get one but I just can't shell out $195 right now.  Any suggestions?  It doesn't have to be QD but it should be high enough to use with an A2 style sight.  Pics would be great if you've got them.  Thanks in advance.

I have the ARMS 22 qd high rings. They work well but it's going to get replaced with a larue spr mount when i get a decent scope. THey are about 120$ shipped from adcofirearms.com

OK, there are a couple of things you have to figure out.

How much eye relief do you need?  Mount your weapon the way you normally would and have someone put the scope where your sight picture is good, and make note of where the eyepiece is relative to the charging handle.  Alternately, mount the scope in a single ring and move it back and forth until it's in the right spot for you.  Your mount will need to be able to put the eyepiece in the same location.  Some mounts don't give much more forward offset than just rings, which isn't enough for many people.

The Armalite's a great mount for the money with decent eye relief, but is pretty low (1.25" centerline) and most BUIS won't fit under most scopes in it.

Here's how to figure out the height you need:

Measure your eyepiece diameter with any flip caps installed and divide that by 2.

Add that to the height of your BUIS, and that'll give you the minimum mount centerline you'll need.
OR
Subtract that from the centerline of your mount, and that'll give you the tallest BUIS that'll fit under the scope and mount.

Here's the Big List of AR15 one-piece mounts:

And here are some popular BUIS heights:

ARMS 40 - 0.950" folded (mine is 1.00" even)
YHM-9680 - 0.840" folded (mine is 0.850")
Matech - 0.75" folded
MI ERS - 0.750" folded
GG&G MAD - 0.625" folded
ARMS 40L - 0.610" folded
Troy - 0.460" folded
MI MCTAR-SPLP - .4375" folded
KAC 300m - 0.315" folded

Thanks guys.  Yes I do have a BUIS it's the A.R.M.S. 40L so it's pretty unobtrusive.
