I got a carry handle Mount for my AR 15 from Midway it came in today so I got the scope that I bought planning for my AR out.  It is a Bushnell 6x-12x40.  After mounting it and getting it level I took a step back and looked at it.  I looks a bit big for my AR.  I am not sure if I will keep it or change it to a smaller on and save this one for something else.  I am planning on getting a la rue moutna nd will probably change it over to that when I get the chance to spend that kind og money.

Here is the pic of it.

Any one else have a huge scope and a AR?

Thanks

I’m sure the scope will work for you.  I have seen guy put on fix 16x on a 16” upper to me that is too much.  I would recommend more of a compact setup like a 1-4x, 2-10x rang with a small bell.

I have a 17 in Nightforce scope on my 20in flattop upper.  Too big for tactical but great for benchrest.  The scope itself weighs 36 oz.

Id say its too high more than too large.

I'd agree.  Getting a stable cheek weld is more important with magnified optics, especially high-mag ones, and that'll be tough with the scope up that high.  Red dots are more forgiving of eye position, and would work better up on the carry handle like that.

Another option would be to put it down lower in a one-piece mount, like you said.  LaRue's hard to beat, but there are other options that are less pricey, if not as nice.
