After shopping the bewildering variety of ACOGs on line for months my bonus from work has finally come thru and I am ready to pull the financial trigger and buy an ACOG. I need some help on what to buy. I will be using this mainly for Coyote hunting and puching holes in paper. I know I want 4X magnification. I will be using it on a flat top Superior Arms M4ergry with a 1/7 18" barrell shooting primarily M193, but i will occasionally be shooting 50JHP form WM value packs and some XM855. Can I use all this different ammo with an ACOG? I will also mount this on my RRA flat top 1/8 18" middie. What do I need for a mount to switch it back and forth? Thank you all in advance for all of the help. Thanks |

I have the TA31A and it's the best for me. I use the solid triangle as a dot up close and find it faster than the chevron. At 100+ yards, I find the fine tip of the triangle more accurate than the doughnut. The TA01 has a more traditional crosshair reticle and can be very accurate, but it is much slower for me up close than the BAC equipped TA31 series. Once I shot the TA31 series, I quickly came to the conclusion that it was money well spent and a fine "jack of all trades" optic. If the draconian Game Commission in PA would allow me to legally hunt Coyotes with a semi-auto rifle, I'd pick this optic. |

Switching back and forth will be an issue because no matter how close they are there will be a big enough difference that they will most like be several inches off at 100yds and the issue will just be compounded at greater distances. You will have to re-zero each time. The TA31F is setup for a 14” to 16” barrel using a 62gr. If you are only going to be shooting out to 400yds you can use any of the ACOGS. One of my favorites is the TA33R8 and the TA31A triangle RET. And ACOG that is set up for a 20” will work better at distances past 400yds. The TA11, TA11D, TA31, TA31A, and the TA33R8 I know will work good for an 18”.
