I've been thinking of replacing the aimpoint i sold awhile back with another red dot sight. I was wanting a good variable 1-4 scope but decided to just do 2 different optics on Larue mounts. I already have the magnified scope and mount i want, now i need to decide on a red dot.

I was originally thinking of the ML3 package on Larue's website. But since this is going to be just for playing around at tactical rifle matches and killing zombies i was thinking something small and not to expensive. I like the Burris fastfire setup like this stores.homestead.com/Laruetactical/Detail.bok?no=99

I was wondering if anyone has these and how well they work. I'll only be shooting this out to 100yds mainly for moving and shooting stuff. Just looking for something to have fun with but will work.

Pics would be great

I've got one. I like it.

- I like the on/off switch.
- It is quick to a acquire sight picture.
- It cowitnesses nicely.
- The BUIS is good for fast short/medium range (basically a ghost ring)
- the mount is super solid, and is a quick detach.

The only drawbacks are:
- it's not waterproof (submersible), but it is rain proof.
- you need to take the sight off the base for battery changes
(not that it needs it often)

For $350, it's a deal considering you get a reddot, a LaRue cowitnessing levermount
and a buis.

You can get an EOtech for a few bucks more, BUT, it won't be quick detach.

Thanks for the reply. Im not that big of a fan of eotechs. Im more of an Aimpoint guy. I already have a set of back up iron sights, but I like the idea.

One other question, I've always prefered a 2moa dot over the 4moa, since the brightness setting is auto does it ever get to high and the dot get blurry and large?

I just bought a Larue spr scope mount with the ring that holds a Trijicon red dot. The scope is a Leupold VXIII 3.5x10 scope.. Scope sighted in at 100 and red dot at 25. It works really well. You just lift your head and tilt a bit and start using the red dot. It is the correct brightness day and night. I am very impressed.

Does the hood interfere at all with 3x magnifiers?  I see nobody with magnifier behind mini red dot, and I don't know why that is the case.

the first factor is price. Buying a 3x Aimpoint magnifier, for a $170 Red dot sight is
somewhat questionable.

The other factor is the height of the mounts for magnifiers...a little too high.

BUT, LaRue now makes a slightly lower LT-649 (I think) side flip mount for magnifiers.
It works with Aimpoints, clones, and with adapter rings it works with Hensoldts.

I may get a Hensoldt 2.5x in the Larue mount... They sell it as the "Po' Boy" for $195.
