Why are there no commecially produced digital zoom scopes available, similar to a digital camera w/ crosshairs?  Too sensative to recoil?  If you can do it with a camera on a heavy machinegun, why not a smaller more compact carbine/rifle version?

digital resolution will increase distortion in the image.

But to what degree, I mean if you have a high resolution w/ a good zoom lense set up, I mean, it would be is similar to (if not shorter than)  the length of a telescopic camera lenses or scope lenses. Would what Im talking about have to have an lcd screen?  Kinda what I would imagine the F2000 to have instead of a little red dot.....

You would think this would be the next evolutionary step from traditional lense optics to merge w/ modern electronic technologies.  You could integrate a laser range finder, good bdc algorithms matched w/ grain and caliber, maybe even eventually, switch btwn nightvision/thermal (long time away in any small package).  But a digital scope would be the begining, they used something similar in the initall showing of the advanced combat fighter gettup w/ the aicw did they not?  Using a wired/ which now could be wireless system to project into headset.  how good are these technologies now?

Am I off base here or is what you are describing like the Elcan digital hunter?

Wow...get something like that in a smaller package, more durable, get it working on bluetooth, and get a good helmet mounted HUD.... :)   I want to see more of this type of technology hit the market, less sportsman like, more milspec, but the fact its developing is a good thing.

Because targets move....think refresh rate.

It cant really be that much longer before it becomes more commercially viable.  Think, processing power doubles every 2 years, we are making huge strides in speed and size, if we get better battery sources that would make it even more feasable.

So does anyone have any experiences w/ this scope, not so much that I like the design of this, but I am more interested in the function of it?  Any reviews that anyone is aware of?

Yep, that's the trick, isn't it?  I bet there are prototypes of this kind of thing being developed, but you'd be looking at prices that would make a Short Dot seem like an ebay Tasco.

Wireless would be susceptible to jamming, and the power supply would be non-trivial - something like this wouldn't run on a couple of CR123s.  Heck, you could conceivably hack the wireless to show false images if they didn't have strong encryption on the signal.  Still, I'll be looking forward to it when they hit the market.

We have the technology now,  give it 5-10 years and oh buddy!
