I am needing some sort of optic for a LMT M4 style build, and was wandering around the LaRue site and noticed the Mini-dot type of optics. LaRue encloses the sight in a protective mount. The red dots are generally 4 MOA and I think LaRue sells from three sight manufacturers....Burris being one. Price in the protective mount runs from about $350-400, depending on the brand of sight. Is anyone running one of these on a flat-top? Do you also mount a BUIS? Mainly this type of sight catches my eye because it appears to be small and lightweight, but also because it is about $100 less expensive than an Aimpoint before the mount cost. Are these types of dot sights up to the rigors of LE/military use? Other considerations? Thanks, Jeff |
I have used the Trijicon, the Doc Optics, and the Aimpoint Micro. I have seen the Burris one but have not played with it so I cannot give any feedback on this one. If I were going to go with one it would be the Aimpoint Micro. ![]() Mike @ CSGW www.csgunworks.com [email protected] Here’s some testimonials about CS GunWorks FEEDBACK about CSGUNWORKS on AR15.com FEEDBACK about CSGUNWORKS on Snipersparadise FEEDBACK about CSGUNWORKS on the HIDE Mike @ CSGW www.csgunworks.com [email protected] Here’s some testimonials about CS GunWorks FEEDBACK about CSGUNWORKS on AR15.com FEEDBACK about CSGUNWORKS on Snipersparadise FEEDBACK about CSGUNWORKS on the HIDE |
| I'm using both Aimpoint Micros and a Burris FastFire in a LaRue IronDot. As simply as I can put it, I prefer the Aimpoints, but I do like the Burris/IronDot. I'd guess the Aimpoints can take a little rougher handling and they've got the better battery life, but the IronDot is a great sight for a lightweight non-combat carbine. |
