| I searched this and still have a couple of questions for those of you that have had experience with these. I would like to use the optic on a 16 inch barrel. My thought is that this could be used for home defense all the way to coyote hunting. would that be a fair assesment? this is a bac model? is it good for cqb? could you track a running coyote with both eyes open? all help appreciated. thanks |

TA31F is a BAC model. CQB, no, not for me as I can not do the 4X BAC thing for 0-50 ft. Open large hole A2 sight or a EOTech/Aimpoint for CQB for me. 16" barrel is fine with a 31F as long as it is zeroed properly. Great optic, just not the best choice at 0darkthirty when things go bump in the night. |
thanks. Is it the chevron or the magnification that is the problem? what if you piggy backed a red dot to it? |

For me it is the 4X magnification that is the issue at 0-50 ft. My eye wants to focus, not look through the sight. From 50 ft to 300m it is just fine, but it is not a CQB optic. The piggy back thing is ok if you dont mind adding more stuff to your rifle. Had a 31F issued to me over "there" but traded it back to supply for a Aimpoint. Most all my shooting was danger close. I still shudder to think I need to be in a stack going into a dark room with a 31F. If CQB is your thing, get a good weapon mounted flashlight and leave the 31F off. Run the carry handle that came with the upper. When you want to shoot a fuzzy brown thing add the 31F back. You have time, you are not in Iraq you know. |
