I am considering a TA 11 for one of my ARs.
I had a TA01 couple of years ago and the eye relief was a huge problem for me. I love the clarity of the glass but I couldn't get past the lack of eye relief.  The TA11 looks like it has the most eye relief which is why I am looking at that model.
The TA01 was listed at 1.5 inches and the TA11 is listed 2.4 inches. Is it that big of a difference?
I don't shoot nose to charging handle. I tired it with the TA01 (only way I could use it) and it just doesn't work for me.

I want to like the ACOGs but it is a pricey experiment should it not work for me.

it's a huge difference. i don't mind the 1.5" myself, but at 2.4" you will notice a big difference.

Get the TA-11. The larger eyereleif is exactly why I got that model.
I don't shoot NTCH either, and the 2.4" eyerelief rocks.

You will not be disapointed....

The TA11 looks like it has the most eye relief according to the trijicon site. I was surprised to find even more than the 3 power models.

I need to decide which reticle. The donut looks faster but the triangle looks more precise. Right now the rifle it will be going on wears a eotech so maybe the donut will be an easy transition but offer the magnification I want.
I was originally thinking of just adding a 3x magnifier to it but too many mounting hassles since i am left handed and don't run a riser. I figure the ACOG is the best solution.

Chuck
I went with the triangle because I like the precise aimpoint the tip of the triangle provides, yet the solid "Blob" of the triangle works very fast for close in work.
After all, I got the ACOG for a little bit more precision at extended ranges vs close up.

Good luck

I own a TA31RCO-M4CP and a TA11 (donut).

I like the TA31 for precise (take your time, aim and shoot) firing. I like the TA11 for faster, off hand CQ type shooting. The added eye relief and donut retical help here.

Of course, YMMV.

Although I don't have any experience with 4x ACOGs, I had a TA11, and bought it mainly because of the eye relief issue.

I found the eye relief on the TA11 to be extremely forgiving.  If you are further back than the 2.4 inches, you can still use the scope just fine, but you lose some field of view.  I could hold the rifle at arms length like a pistol and still see the reticle.  The downside is the extra weight.  If that doesn't bother you, spring for the TA11 and you'll love it.  It made shooting at 100yd spooky easy.

If you get an ACOG from us and it does not work for you send it back and get something else.

If I could have only one of my ACOGs it would be the TA11C. My next choice would be my TA55A.
It gives a very good mix of long range capability with the BDC ladder and excellent optics, as well as BAC with the fiber optic/tritium illuminated donut.

The BDC matches well to a flat top 16" shooting 77/75gr ammo, the 3.5X magnification well suited to the envelope of a .556 AR, good eye relief, the donut, and large exit pupil make it effective at short to medium range rapid fire use, and it's tough as nails and pretty good in low light use.

In the recon role you might complain it has a lack of magnification (you should be carrying binocs & rangefinder anyway, for me Geovid 10X42), but it's at least as good as any of the 1-4 variables out there. For precision, at 300 yards on you're off the donut and onto the BDC ladder, also.

My #1 rifle, 16" SS 1/7 Krieger Recon with TA11C/OPS 12th.

edwin907 your pic helps a lot. Even with a buis you can move the scope farther back due to the longer body over the TA01 I had.  With a buis the TA01 couldn't go back far enough and even with out it the back half of the scope was shorter which required me to close up the stock and made me feel cramped.

For a 16 inch AR  the 3.5 to 4 power range does seem like a perfect compromise for the type of shooting I use it for. For long range precision I have my bolt guns and AR10 and the AR15s are used for plinking and steel plates out to 400 or 500 yards at most. Usually closer to the 100 to 300 at the local range.

Mike, I will send you an email for some info.

Take a look at the TA-11F.

This is like the marine corps model, except in 3.5x with the better eye relief and without those stupid mil-radions

I received my new TA11 and the eye relief is great on it. I can run the stock 1 notch in from fully extended for a perfect view through the scope. Crystal clear optics. Wish I had gotten one sooner.
Now I have to wait about a month till I can try it at the range.

Big difference?

Have you looked at the TA33?  It is smaller than the TA11 and lighter by a significant amount, only sacrificing FOV and .5 X.

Its also cheper.

ETA:  You got the TA11.  Right on!

It depends on the model.  You can get some for under $1k.

If you keep an eye out there are good deals to be had on the equipment exchange.
When I picked up my TA-11, it was like new with a Larue Mount for $825.

You just have to spent some time and really look ....
