On sunday took my rifle out for its first shooting. While taking off the Aimpoint, the mount was real tight. When it finally came free the mount and sight fell off, hit the bench then landed on the concrete below. Looked it over and only visible damage was a ding to the corner of my mount. Put the Aimpoint back on and shot two more mags. The shots were in the same spot as before so zero didn't move.

I know these things are supposed to take a beating but someone re-assure me my scope is ok. 600 dollar optic/mount hitting the ground makes a horrific sound

that's what they are made for.  to take a licking and keep on...holding zero.  of course i bounce my eotech off the concrete every once in a while just for kicks and it holds true for me.  keep shooting!
