if an eotech does not need a mount (since it is built in) then why use one? The only reason the jumps out at me is to make clearance for the foregrip if needed.

maybe cowitness preferences?

GG&G claims that by using there Accucam Eotech mount you will experience virtually no loss of zero when you remove and reinstall it.

easy adjustability would be my guess

I use a LaRue mount because I don't like the FSB right in the middle of the optic window.
And it's quick detach with no loss of zero.

I'm leaning towards ordering a Eotech 512-A65 (should adone it before the bulk deal ended but I've been going back and forth on optics since I ordred my CMMG rifles).

Anyways, will you get an absolute co-wittness on a flat top using the integral mounts with the Eotech?  From the post above I take it you will, it's just that you'll have the FSB extending half way up the optic picture with the 65MOA perfectly centered in the rear BUIS aperture and the 1 MOA dot perfectly ontop of the front post?

My Rear BUIS will be a Matech.

As I said I've been debating red dot optics for over a week now between the Eotech 512-A65, Aimpoint CompC3, Burris Xtreme Tactical, and Bushnell Trophy MP.

I actually had ordred a Bushnell as it was the most economical option for $138 from OpticsPlanet but they are out for 1 to 2 weeks.  They give 5% discount for something in stock so that got me looking at other options.  The cost of the Burris almost got into the range of the Eotech and Accupoint after you added a QD Ring, the Aimpoint while it comes with a ring mount it won't co-wittness on a flat top hence you still have to spring for a mount - so that leaves me with the Eotech.  I have no real need to remove the thing as long as I get a good co-wittness so repeatable zero and ease of removal isn't a big factor.

Thanks,
Earl

Yes, you will get an absolute co-wittness with the EoTech directly mounted to the receiver.  I've tried it both ways--direct mount, and with a riser (which results in the lower 1/3 co-wittness) and prefer the direct mount.  It's a matter of preference.  Suggest you try the direct mount before purchasing the riser(s).

The GG&G Accucam is awful nice and very convenient.  Don't have to worry about the EoTech loosening. The direct mount is lighter weight, and one less interface to loosen up and affect accuracy. Cheaper too.
