I recently acquired  an  EO552 and EO 3X magnifier w/FTS mount. The 552 is mounted directly on a Bushmaster flat top receiver with the 3X magnifier behind it.  There seems to be an issue with the optics not properly lining up. The 3X magnifier is high compared to the 552. When looking through the magnifier, the top portion of the frame surrounding of the lens is visible. This results in a shadow in the upper area of the magnifier. I made the necessary windage and elevation adjustments to center the reticle in the magnifier but the problems persists.

Is the 3X magnifier w/FTS mount not completely compatible with the 552?

The magnifier mounts were really designed to for 553 and 557 which are designed to mount the sight so that the irons are in the lower third of the sight window.

What this means is that to get your 552 to line up perfectly you will need to use a riser such as the LaRue LT-110 or other similar mount made by another company.

Your sight is still quite usable as it is so you may want to try it that way for a while and if it still bothers you then you can spend the money for a riser.

Have you tried adjusting the mag mount for lower elevation?

I've considered the Larue LT110 but was concerned that it would raise the 552 too high. According to the Larue website, the riser will raise the EO approx 1/4".  Will this properly line up the optics?... The LT110 will also enable me to move the EO forward over the handguards. Which is another reason for getting it.

The adjustments on the mount only allow for just enough movement to center the reticle in the magnifier.
