Ok so I mainly right handed and left eye dominate. I took my AR with my EOTech down to my gun smith and had him laser level my sight in for me. At 100yrds we were shooting 3inch groupings with the naked on the EOTech. So everything is super. My issue is its set up as a close quater weapon. But I am having issues with having to tilt my head half way over mt stock to get my left eye lineing up decently. Is there some sort of riser? Like a way to lift it? its about half way down the rail. mainly because I have a x3 magnifer comming. So dose anyone know of any things to either lift it, and/or a technique that may help? because I really I just having a issuse with being able to get my left eye to where it needs to be while being in certin positions. For the record I can shoot left handed, and I can shoot with my right eye but neither are the dominate. <sorry for any typos>

You will probably need a riser to get a good sight picture with the magnifier anyhow.

Raise the butt of the weapon to your eye level, don't force your head down on the stock. The recoil impulse is light enough that only having the toe of the butt planted on your shoulder isn't a pain issue, it just takes some getting used to. You shouldn't be assuming a different cheek weld with an EOTech than you do with your iron sights, they are on the same plane.

Why are you doing this?  Just look at your target, with the Eotech in front of your other eye, BOTH EYES OPEN.  You do not need the dominant eye looking through the Eotech.  It does not matter.  Focus on the target.  The reticle will appear to float around "out there" on the plane of the target, and you just move it onto the target and fire.

I do shoot with both eyes open. But that still dosent mean I dont use my dominate eye.

You don't "use" one eye over the other when using the EoThingy properly as intended. You focus both eyes on the target, and the reticle "floats".

If your dominant eye is focusing on the reticle, you're doing it wrong (I mean that in the nicest way...really).

agreed

you want to forget that the eotech is even there.

Have you tried shooting off of your left shoulder just to see how it goes for you?

You are looking through the site. Don't! Look at the target and when the dot is on the target, pull the trigger.

If you want to train yourself to do this, buy a cheapo red dot. Mount it and sight it in (preferably on a .22 lr so its cheap to practice).   Once its properly sighted in, put the front cap on and try shooting. You will quickly find that you have to keep both eyes open. Your brain will superimpose the dot from your right eye on the target from your left and you will hit the target accurately if your eye alingment is decent.

I did this with a paint ball gun to teach my nephews to get quicker with their .22's when they ground hog hunt with me. It works and will make you faster with your regular scopes as well.

Remember the scene in Firebirds, the guy that had trouble with eye dominance and a heads up display?

This reminds me of that.

Just look at the target.  Forget the Eotech.

Well thank you all for your opnion, and advice. Some of it didnt apply exactly to the situation but thanks. I think I finally found a way to fix it. I removed the front sight post<and gass block> and got a flat one put there with a flip up iron sight<will try to get some pics up>. I think the issue was I was trying to line up the EOTech with the front iron sight and it looked funny "floatin" around the front iron. So since I had the new one put on I really havent had the same issue. Go figure maybe im just nuts.... But for anyone else that might have the same problem you might want to have them throw their EOTech on a flat top and see if the issue is still there... TY all once again.

Don't feel like you are the only one.  I did the same thing to make mine feel right:  took off the front sight and magically the stars alligned.  It just threw me off.

For those of you having sighting issues with EoTechs and other red dots, if you have a railed free float tube, I'd suggest moving your sight further out towards the front so your field of view is expanded and you don't have the retical right in your face tuneling your eye focus in on the reticle.  Moving the optic further out lets your FOV expand and you are less likely to instinctively focus in on just the reticle.
