I picked up my first upper tonight (my lower is still on order). I have a Kronus 1.5 - 5 that I planned on mounting.  I put it on with the rings I had handy and realized that the front sight (a-frame type) is blocking a large part of the sight picture.
I like having iron sights as a backup. I don't have a problem w/ the A frame and had planned on leaving it. Should I go with higher rings? Do I remove the gas block and buy a flip up?
I'm assuming there is no way to set up a cowitness style setup with a magnifying scope.

Its a flat top upper w/ 20" barrel and round handguards for now... Later I'll change to something lighter (I couldn't pass up the trade). I like the Clark Carbon Fibers but they're expensive!

Any advice would be appreciated.

taller rings or a riser would work for the short term

long term if you plan to leave the magnified optic on there you have two choices

get used to the shadow being there, or get a folding front sight.

whichever you choose, be sure that you have an adequate rear sight.

I hate the shadow, so all my optic equipped rifles have folding front and rear sights.  If this rifle may ever be used in a gunfight back up irons are not an option, they are mandatory.  Get good ones.
