So, I'm having a really strange problem on a new Eotech 512 that I'm adding to a CMMG middy upper with an F marked FSB. BTW, I'm using a Troy foldable rear sight. My plan is to mount the 512 directly on the rail and have an absolute co-witness with the FSB and rear iron sights. The problem is, the Eotech 1 MOA dot is no where near the proper aiming plane! The red dot and circle are far below the aiming path from the rear BUIS to the FSB! I then tried adjusting the elevation and ran into the stop and still wasn't able to get the dot to co-witness! Very strange and I'm wondering if I am doing something wrong or if the Eotech is defective. Does anybody have any good advice on this? Is this a known issue with Eotechs? Am I just doing something wrong? Thanks.............. |
| I'm not that knowledeable with this topic, but if I recall correctly, you need to have a riser to achieve a perfect co-witness.. Be it a larue mount, YHM, or RRA Dominator mount. You whole eotech needs to be raised to put everything in line... otherwise, i think you wind up with a "lower 3rd" co-witness |
| I have mine mounted on a flat top reciever. ARMS #40 rear and standard front sight. The dot sits right on top of my front sight post when I look through the rear an line them up. I don't use any riser. I've done this with 511's and 512's on 3 different carbines. Contact Eotech. |
| I think that you should get the january issue of S.W.A.T. magazine there is a great and informative article by Pat Rogers "how to run the red dot right" if you are new to the red dot sights world the article is a must read. Now on your issue with the Eo just remember by no means the red dot sight was created to be aligned with the iron sights but the on the contrary they where conceived to work like an alternative aiming solution ,being completly independent to the iron sighting system. You dont have to align the two systems together to make it work, adjust the Eo then align the iron sights. You should be able to have complete cowitness through the Eo window, you dont need a riser for it ,that said some people find the lower third cowitness ideal me included. |

You do need to remember that turning the screw to bring the dot up, will lower the dot in the sight, because it raises the front of the firearm. I just thought I should mention this as you may be turning it the wrong way. Turn in to lower the impact point. ] Also, have you tried a higher check weld? This will make the dot seem to be higher in the sight. |
Also never zero your iron to your red dot, but you canrodo a rough zero your red dot to your iron. |
