I am in some some serious counsel. I finally built the ar I have wanted. Mainly a custom midlength, free float all that jazz. Mainly being used for plinkin, bunnie blastin, tin cans, home defense, both home, neighbors, ect the basic common scnerios we all read about on all the threads here. My problem is. I likeie the red dots but I get no magnification. I like having awsome eye relief and field of view and to shoot both eyes open method. I also like some options to having some magnfication for more precision shot placement at an extended range. I have read tons about the DMS-1 but havent heard about its ease of shooting in 1x .is it easy to acquire targets in the 1x and how about 4x. hers the kicker Its christmas time money is short would like the best bang for my buck . I have enough for a dms-1 or should I look at something else and what are my options...This isnt all new to me I have had 9 ARs before But they were all varmint configs. so I just need a little help from the experts here. Basically I love having lots of FOV like a eotech but like having a little magnification. thanks for your help |

Like all 1x telescopes (different from an Aimpoint or Eo-Tech) there are still some restrictions on eye relief. The DMS-1 is supposed to be very close to a true 1x, but you will still need to practice a proper cheek-weld to avoid black-out conditions due to improper eye-relief. This unfortunately is the sole reason why a 1x telescope will never be as fast and instinctive as the unlimited eye-relief electro-optics. That said, I recommend getting one. You can become very efficient with a little practice and having magnification when you need it is a huge advantage over an Aimpoint or Eo-Tech. |
