| I purchased the Larue LT 150 mount with Aimpoint ML3 a few months ago and have had a problem occur twice now where after firing a few hundred rounds the mount becomes loose. I tightened them up as tight as they would go and went shooting at the range last week and when I was done firing the Aimpoint had slide around due to the mount becoming loose. Why is this happening and what can I do to remedy this problem? |

You mean the optic is loose in the mount, not that that the mount is loose on the AR, correct? I have to admit I'm kind of stumped, I have that mount and I'm not sure how that could happen if the bolts are in tight. Normally if you put on some loctite and tighten them up it's not going anywhere. Any chance you have a picture? You might also want to consider posting about this in LaRue's Industry forum here. Mark LaRue is as good as it gets when it comes to making sure his stuff works properly. |

I am just guessing that you are closing the lever then using the supplied wrench to 'adjust' the tension. If that is the case you should adjust the lever according to the instructions: Adjusting Locking Levers If you are talking about the four bolts of the ring, then yes, you just need to use the supplied lock-tite. |
+1 I have a Larue canti/ML2 its on to stay |

Which part? 1) The part that holds the Aimpoint? 2) The part that holds the mount + Aimpoint to rifle? If it's #1, then it sounds like you did NOT use the supplied blue loctite per the instructions, or per common sense. If it's #2, it sounds like you did not tension the mounting I bet if you'd called LaRue first they probably would have walked you through a proper setup. They would have used small words too. Or alternately, if something was truly and rightly fucked, they would have already had a replacement inbound. So here's to me guessing that you haven't called the single best source for fixing this problem. ![]() ETA: Here, I'll help get you on the right track: LaRue's Main # 512-259-1585 stores.homestead.com/Laruetactical/Service.bok |
| Let me clarify, the optic is loose in the mount. No I didn't contact the manufacturer over this as I thought it be better first to get input from other users here to see if I was missing something or if this is a common mistake. I will go back and check the kit I was sent. I do remember there being a little blue thing but think I just used the wrench to tighten the screws. Thanks for the input. Shivan, I don't need you trying to make me look like a dumbass with your comments about small words. I thought this site was here as a resource for information and problem solving. |

Don't sweat it. For every question you ask here you'll get three or four people responding who really want to help you and a couple more who have nothing better to do than be a pain in the ass. Set the scope back up nice and tight then, one at a time, take a screw out and put a little of the blue stuff on the threads. Replace the screw than do the next one, and so on till all are coated. Let it sit overnight and you'll be good to go. |

1. You must degrease the screws and the threaded inserts in the mount, use break cleaner, acetone, etc. Using a good degreaser is the key to getting Loctite to work properly. It is also a good idea to degrease the inside of the ring and the outside of the tube, so that there is no lubrication on the mating surfaces. 2. Let the degreaser dry before you apply the blue Loctite. 3. Apply the blue loctite to the bottom 2 screws insert the long end of the wrench into the screw and tighten as tight as you can holding the short end of the wrench. This will equal about 15 inch pounds of torque. 4. Apply the blue loctite to the top 2 screws insert the long end of the wrench into the screw and tighten as tight as you can holding the short end of the wrench. Again this will equal abour 15 inch pounds of torque. Let the loctite setup for 24 hours before use. hope this helps |
