I just put together a setup consisting of a 16" M4 upper w/ fixed front sight and a Meopta 1-4x K-Dot in a LT SPR mount.

On 1x, the FSB seems to really fill up the reticle and it's distracting. I've never had a problem using my Aimpoint with a fixed FSB before, but the LT Aimpoint mount is substantially higher than the SPR.

On 4x the FSB "ghosts out" and is invisible so it's not a problem.

Anyone else have this problem? Should I just go to a folding front sight like the PRI? The PRI is expensive but it's really not anymore expensive than buying a longer rail, low pro gas block, and rail mounted folding front...actually it's a little cheaper.

Thanks for the help.

In my experience the front sight disappears at 3x or above. Otherwise it's pretty annoying. The only exception I've seen is the Leupold CQT, the front sight is visible but doesn't interfere with the circle dot reticle, at least to me.

FSB's and 1X variable optics don't mix.  Get a folding FSB...it'll bug you to no end otherwise....like every time you pick it up.

Would that extra tall SPR help?

You need a mount that places the center of the scope at least 1.5" above the receiver flat top.  Square B makes a decent one for about $70 or for top shelf look at the Larue 1.5 for about $200.  I have them both and for their respective purposes they both do the job.

I was wondering the same thing, After jumping back and forth between Aimpoint and Eotech. I  am deciding on purchasing a 1.5x-5x scope a leupold Mark 4 w/SPR recticle. I'm worried my fixed front sight will get in the way. But since i have Vltor CASV hand guards do you think this might still be an issue ?hinking.gif

I am using the Larue SPR 1.5 now and it's not nearly high enough.

I am not a super fan of the PRI flip sight base because it wiggles a bit in the up position.  I would try one before purchasing.  I got rid of mine.  I just use a Troy front on the rail with my K-Dot.

I have a fixed front sight with my meopta/larue e.  It bothered me for the first time the other day when I was getting a reflection from the sun off of the front sight.  It is fine for me the way it is when I'm focusing on the target, but the less destracting the better.
The pri does wiggle,  I sold mine as well.

The LaRue SPR/M4 1.93" may solve your problems.
