I just acquired an EOTech 512, my first one.  I mounted it onto the flattop rail of my M4gery as instructed, pushing it forward on the rail while tightening the hex screw.

After testing it out on the range, I wanted to un-mount it and I'm having a really difficult time.  I loosened the hex screw as instructed, but that thing is stuck on there!  I know this is a dumbass question, but...how do I get it off??

If you've slackened off the screw then push the screw in to make sure that the clamp has disengaged and roll it off to the left.

Thanks for the advice.  I just tried that and it didn't work.  The thing won't budge.  What am I doing wrong?

Argh, it's still locked in tight!

Is the SCREW all the way out

I've tried looseing the screw like the manual says, and I've also tried removing the screw completely and trying to disengage the lock.

A couple times I've had to use a punch and tap lightly to "reset" the clamp.  Sometimes, backing off the screw alone doesn't back out the rail clamp on the other side.

That said, why would you remove it?
If you plan on removing it often, you'll want to look into either GG&G's flip lock for it or LaRue's QD mount.

I mounted it to test it out; the EOTech was meant for another rifle I'm currently building, but my upper isn't in yet.  I think after this, I definitely will get a Larue mount.  It's still clamped on there.

At least you know it's nice and steady, and won't fall off in use.

It's good to know.

I got it off, btw.  lol

I'm thinking of buying one. Kind of debating it.. seems like a lot to spend on a sight, but they are very nice..

I thought they were quite spendy as well.  But the EOTech is great.  I think it was worth it.

Hex screw? Are you turning the right screw?
I though it was a slotted thumb screw

Yes a thumb screw, that you tightened wen you put it on.
