Just installed my 512 when I look at the reticle the dot and the ring look pretty fuzzy/blurry is it supposed to be that way?  I noticed the farther back I look the better it gets.  I have it mounted so that the battery compartment is at the end of the receiver rail.

Thanks for the help.....

It will look fuzzy sometimes for two reasons:

1. It is too close to your eye (this is one of the benefits of mounting them as far forward as possible)

2. The intensity is set too bright for the conditions. Take it down a couple of settings and see if it looks better. That usually works well for me. You'll often have to adjust to get the ideal intensity setting to match that of the conditions.

If there is a weakness to using the EOTech 512 compared to the 511, it's the fact that the 512 is longer, which is necessary to accomodate the AA batteries. That means that you can't get it as far forward as a 511, unless you have a FF setup where you can mount it well forward and not to have the delta ring to fight with.

Also....don't focus on the ring.  Focus on your target.  That seems to be the problem w/ a lot of ppl.  Or you could have astigmatism which in that case you better just get used to the fuzziness.

Guys,

I do have a free float should I move it up?  If I focus on the target that does help quite a bit.

I am curious as to where is should be mounted....on the receiver or free float...or is what works for me?

Give it a shot and see how you like it there. Lots of people run those type of optics all the way out on the handguards with success, provided they are well anchored handguards. You may find it to suit you better there.
